Pre-registration Plan

This anti-smart meter initiative is direct democracy in action.

If you want to put a halt to the smart meter program, please add your name to our pre-registration list. This indicates your intention to sign the OFFICIAL Initiative Petition when we start the process of an Initiative under the Recall and Initiative Act. StopSmartMeters.ca will start the official process when support is sufficient to assure that the Initiative will be successful. This will allow all British Columbians to have a say on the future of BC’s electricity grid.

At present we invite you to consider three options:

1. Add your name to our Pre-Registration list – Your contact information will be held in a secure database, and will only be used by the StopSmartMeters.ca Society to contact you about future events, where and when to sign the official petition, and where and how to vote on the Initiative.
2. Donate – We need funds to run this campaign for such things as advertising, lawyers’ fees, administration, and the numerous other expenses that will be incurred. If everyone donates, the Initiative can succeed and we will rid ourselves of smart meters. Without donations the Initiative cannot succeed. Extra donations are welcome.
3. Offer to volunteer – Help with the campaign preparations, the Petition drive and/or the Initiative vote campaign. We will be in touch, giving you all the information you need.

 

There is much to do, and we citizens from all walks of life, from all ideologies, can work together for a better and more democratic BC. This is a non-partisan campaign.

The money collected will ONLY be used to fight the Smart Meter program. Any funds left over once the campaign is complete will be donated to an appropriate and worthwhile cause. Stopsmartmeters.ca is a non-profit Society and the directors and members of the Society will NOT receive ANY money for their work.
